A creative podium approach for a small town square setting. Etched
jet black sections with inscriptions and Larry Maysey's dedication.
A life size bronze statue is mounted on an eight sided base. Podium
sections are tied together with benches creating a cohesive look.

"On behalf of the Hackettstown Civil War Memorial Monument
Committee, I would like to thank you and your staff at Keystone
Memorial for the outstanding support and service given to our committee.
The "Billy Yank" statue and base of the statue is
exemplary and a fitting memorial to the Veterans who fought in
the Civil War from the Hackettstown area.
We have received and are still receiving numerous positive
comments on the statue and memorial site.
Thank you for making our project a success."

| This monument includes a 12 ft.high pedestal for a 7 ft. high bronze
statue of a Union Army Soldier. The original pedestal was cast from
bronze which was damaged during repair in the 1920's and Hackettstown
business and governmental officials recently decided to have the memorial
replaced. They worked with Buddy Slifkin who produced a design based
on the original version. The pedestal consists of five sections. The
largest is a steeply-tapered piece, 2'4" long and wide and 5'6" high,
supporting the bronze statue. The names of major battles, a poem "Remember
You Are Jerseymen," and other information is on this section which
also includes a 6" high cap. Among the other components is a 2'8" long,
3' high section on which two polished black granite panels are attached.
A Gettysburg Battle scene is on one panel and an American Eagle and
U.S. Flag are on the other. Also on this section is a replica of a
horse's head, similar to one on the original pedestal. A bas relief
water basin is on a 4' long, 3'8" wide, 8" high concave section beneath
the horse's head. The memorial also includes two granite benches.
Pavers were sold with donor's names to raise funds for the project. |
